Skilled Worker/Trade Worker

Express Entry is used to manage applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:

     • The Federal Skilled Worker Program

     • The Federal Skilled Trades Program

     • The Canadian Experience Class

In order to participate in the Express Entry Pool, the minimum requirements of Federal Skilled Worker Program:

     • At least one year (1560 hours) continuous paid fulltime or an equal amount part time job within the last 10 years at NOC Code of type 0, A or B

     • Minimum language level of CLB7 (IELTS 6,6,6,6) – Language test equivalency charts

     • A Canadian high school or above degree or its equivalent

If those basic criteria are met, other factors such as skills in English or French, education, work experience, age, valid job offer and adaptability will be measured to offer points.

In order to participate in the Express Entry Pool, the minimum requirements of Federal Skilled Trades Program:

     • Minimum language level of CLB5 or NCLC 5 for speaking and listening, CLB4 or NCLC4 for reading and writing in English or French – Language test equivalency charts

     • At least 2 years of fulltime work experience in a skilled trade within 5 years

     • Offer of fulltime employment of at least 1 year

     • A Canadian high school or above degree or its equivalent

Apart from Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades, provincials have their own labour need. So they have different Provincial Nominee Program accordingly, which once approved when add 600 points into your Express Entry profile. Additionally, Saskatchewan has its own International Nominee Program; foreign workers are eligible to apply with the appropriate job approved letter.
